Billy Morrison mentions working on 'K-11' in his blog

So I am sitting here in my trailer on the set of K-11 – dressed and ready to shoot. And now we wait. There’s a lot of waiting on the set of a movie, but I really don’t mind. It gives me time to reflect on the last few days.

And that brings me back to today and the first proper day of shooting for me on K-11. I’ve told you how excited I am to be a part of this movie, and I am so very lucky to get the opportunity to act again. I truly love acting and embrace every opportunity I get to do it, to learn from people that are good at it, to soak up the atmosphere of being ‘on set’ ….. Very similar to being ‘backstage’ at a show. And here I am again, in my own little trailer, passing the time by writing a blog, taking pics for Twitter and Facebook, and loving every minute of it. I think I’ll go for a wander around the set and see what’s cooking. For now, have a great rest of the week, work hard, play hard, and I’ll be back soon.

K-11 Keeps Working Kristen Stewart Connection! (E!Online)

And so another game of he said/she said concerning our girl Kristen Stewart begins!

While sources very in-the-know about K.Stew's movie schedule told us that the Twilight babe wasn't planning on biting into a role in her mom's directorial debut (and hadn't been in a tres long time), peeps working on K-11 are singing a totally different tune.

So what's the word this time? And does it even matter?

A rep for K-11 tells us exclusively that, "Kristen was originally attached to participate but is unable to because of her shooting schedule with Snow White and The Huntsman. She is still wildly supportive of K-11 and Jules Stewart's directorial debut and her brother's [Cameron Stewart] theatrical debut."

Well, duh. Of course she's happy her fam is finding T-town success. We are, too!

And we certainly never said otherwise. Just that her connection to the film lasted a lot longer than she ever did. But that's the exact deet that is up for dispute: how long exactly was Kristen attached to star in the flick?

"Kristen had always planned to do K-11," a source close to the film promises. "It's all not as sensational as posted, but the simple reality is that it came down to a scheduling conflict."

Point is: They want you to know that if she weren't wielding a sword opposite Chris Hemsworth, she'd be getting acquainted with the inner workings of the L.A. prison system right about now.

So see the movie! Because it's what K.Stew would want you to do!

And we still say we think the slammer stuff is more K.Stew's speed anyways. 'Cause the role she was supposed to play is described as "a beautiful young waif named Butterfly" who, get this, is a transgender man.

How chic-ly controversial, no?

And to the actress playing Butterfly now—that's Portia Doubleday—we wish you luck, babe! You've got some big, Stewart shoes to fill.

Craig Owens joins the cast of 'K-11'

Several weeks ago, D.R.U.G.S. lead vocalist Craig Owens announced that he would be canceling several dates on the Vans Warped Tour to take part in an independent film project. Fans all over were either excited to see their favorite vocalist getting some time on the silver screen, or they were livid with the lack of commitment to the current tour the band has been on. Regardless, I think we are all interested in what the movie is all about and the part Craig has to play. So, With some digging, I’ve found some information on the film and Craig’s character. NOTE: UPDATES ARE FOUND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POST

The film is tentatively called K-11 (Official poster found at the bottom of this article). It is directed and co-written by Jules Mann-Stewart, mother of Twilight star Kristen Stewart. The fan site for the film gives us a short synopsis that reads as such:

When successful record producer Jay Richmond, is jailed for suspicion of murder, he is assigned to the most bizarre unit in all of L.A. county lock up. K-11 houses the dregs of the inmate class – transvestites, transsexuals, and the occasional high profile celebrity – prisoners who wouldn’t be safe anywhere else in the system. Jay’s own incarceration there forces him to endure the alien culture and the dangerous politics of Officer Johnson and cellblock leader Mousie.

Not much has been publicly released on Craig’s roll in the film, I figure this means his role is quite small. From what I’ve gathered, he plays a washed up pop star who inevitably is murdered. I’ve read through the first several pages of the script as I understand it, Craig plays a character named Daniel. If the film stays true to the original script, Craig will be in the first several minutes of the movie and in a few explanatory scenes throughout. Craig has finished his scenes for the movie and is back on Warped Tour now. The film will premiere at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival which opens on February 9, 2012. Under the Gun will be following the film for any more news on Craig Owens’ role.

UPDATE: We incorrectly identified Craig as playing the role of Daniel, when, in fact, he is playing the part of singer/songwriter Ian Sheffield.

Also, an official synopsis of the film has popped up:

Raymond Saxx (Goran Visnjic) has it all: an enviable career, a gorgeous loft, a sleek car, and a beautiful, young wife. He is one of the music industry’s most powerful moguls who can turn an unknown act into a superstar overnight. But all of his money and influence can’t save him from his own demons. His hedonistic lifestyle is fueled by greed and jealousy and amplified by reckless drug use that turns him against his latest creation, singer/songwriter Ian Sheffield (Craig Owens).

When Ray wakes up after a three-day binge, he finds himself in the Los Angeles County lock-up under the gaze of a beautiful young waif named Butterfly (Portia Doubleday) and only a hazy recollection of what may have landed him in jail. Butterfly, a transgender young man, explains to Ray that the “K-11″ stamped on his hand is the unit where they send people who would be in danger if they were mixed in with the main jail population. “I like to think it’s a sanctuary for broken toys,” she says, “a home away from home.”

Thus begins a nightmarish journey of survival for Ray Saxx, who must learn to navigate a new kind of power structure in a world whose “kingpin” is a transsexual viper named Mousey (Kate del Castillo). She maintains a tenuous share hold over K-11 with the brutalizing and corrupt jailer Lieutenant Johnson (D.B. Sweeney). The maddening circumstances in which Ray finds himself trapped in K-11 threaten to unravel him, until he finally gets his footing and realizes that these inmates aren’t crazy.

Time is running out for Ray as snippets of his memory return and hint at the horror that landed him amidst the violence inside the K-11 unit. Ray is forced to decide whether to look out for himself or confront his past, and Lt. Johnson, neither of which he can do without the help of the social misfits and criminals of K-11.

Kristen Stewart Won't Get Murderous In 'K-11' (MTV articles, inc Video)

Everyone put on your Disappointment Pants: Kristen Stewart, despite earlier rumors to the contrary, will NOT be appearing as a homicidal transgendered prison inmate in "K-11." But even without Kristen on board, there's still a whole lotta Stewart in this movie! Kristen's mom, Jules Stewart, will direct the dark, gritty ensemble drama—and Variety reports that her older brother, Cameron Stewart, has joined the cast in his feature film debut.

A manly version of K-Stew? Hmm! There's only a teensy photo of Cameron attached to the story, but we definitely see some family resemblance between him and his famous sis.

Goran Visnjic, D.B. Sweeney and Portia Doubleday of "Youth in Revolt" are all attached to the movie as well, and shooting is currently taking place at an abandoned correctional facility. And despite the proliferation of Stewarts, don't be looking for a sweet family reunion in this film; Mama Stewart's directorial debut is serious business—we're talking rape, murder and prison riots.

At least we know where Kristen gets her taste for dark and daring roles.

Kristen Stewart Drops Out Of Transgender Indie 'K-11'
Film, directorial debut of Stewart's mother, will now feature her brother Cameron.
Any shot the public had at seeing Kristen Stewart playing a transsexual prisoner with autism is no more. We can't say we're surprised.

The "Twilight" star had long been involved with "K-11," the indie film about a rather unusual family that is set to be the directorial debut of Stewart's mother, Jules. But Variety now reports that as "K-11" finally moves forward after years in development, Bella Swan herself will not be involved in the production.

Stewart's departure marks the second "Twilight" actress to bow out of "K-11": Last year, Nikki Reed dropped out of the film, which both actresses had been involved with since at least 2008. MTV News broke the story on the project that November, when Reed kicked us word of the flick. "It's about a little-known section of the men's county jail," she said at the time. "I'm playing a man, and Kristen's playing a boy."

Though her daughter is no longer part of "K-11," which began filming earlier this month, Jules Stewart will be keeping the project in the family, as Kristen's older brother, Cameron, will be making his feature film debut in the film. He'll be joined by Goran Visnjic ("ER"), D.B. Sweeney ("Hard Ball") and Portia Doubleday ("Youth in Revolt").

In March of last year, before she had wrapped work on the "Twilight" series and signed up for Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman," the actress was still hoping to take part in "K-11."

"Yeah, totally," Stewart told MTV News at the time. "It's just one of those things where you try and get a movie off the ground that's small.

"I don't know [whether it will get made]. Like, right now it's harder [to get indie films made]," she added. "It just never got legs. I still really hope to do it."

Kristen Stewart's Big Brother Joins the Biz in 'K-11' (Next Movie)

If you're longing for some extreme poutiness and a thousand yard stare between installments of "Breaking Dawn," the Movieverse has answered your prayers in the form of Cameron Stewart, big brother to the bringer of all that vampire mama drama, Kristen.

Variety reports that the mohawked and mustachioed Cameron will be taking his first shot at the silver screen as inmate Sledgehammer in prison drama "K-11," which marks mom Jules Mann-Stewart's directorial debut.

The film tells the story of a music producer who, following a bender,  finds himself in a wing of the L.A. County Men's jail committed to housing prisoners, including members of the LGBT community, who are unlikely to survive when housed with the prison's general population.

The movie, which began shooting in California earlier this month, was originally rumored to number Cameron's famous little sis and her "Twilight" co-star Nikki Reed among the cast, but both actresses have since backed out of the production.

Despite the lack of K-Stew, Cameron is making his movie debut in good company: "E.R." actor Goran Visnjic stars as the film's main character, alongside "Youth in Revolt" star Portia Doubleday, D.B. Sweeney, and Kevin Smith's not-so-silent partner in on-screen crime, Jason Mewes.

Cameron Stewart Joins 'K-11,' Kristen Stewart Not In Jules Mann-Stewart's Debut (Huffington Post)

Don't call him a mama's boy, but it may not be such a tough guess to figure out who the favored child in the Stewart household is right now.

Variety reports that "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart is not, contrary to rumors, a part of "K-11," the feature directorial debut of her mom, Jules Mann-Stewart. Who is involved? Goran Visnjic of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," D.B. Sweeney Portia Doubleday... and Kristen's older brother, Cameron.

Making his major film debut, Cameron will play a jail inmate named Sledgehammer (thanks, mom!). Kristen was attached to star in the film for some time as a transsexual inmate (alongside "Twilight" co-star Nikki Reed), but she's just a bit busy, what with debuting two "Breaking Dawn" films, her "On The Road" adaptation and then filming "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Jules Mann-Stewart is a longtime Hollywood script supervisor, starting on TV movies in the late 80s and earning credits on films such as "Jingle All The Way," "Jack Frost," and "The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas." She also did work on "The Sarah Silverman Program," which may help provide some darker shades for this film; here's the official synopsis, below:

Raymond Saxx (Goran Visnjic) has it all: an enviable career, a gorgeous loft, a sleek car, and a beautiful, young wife. He is one of the music industry's most powerful moguls who can turn an unknown act into a superstar overnight. But all of his money and influence can't save him from his own demons. Butterfly, a transgender young man, explains to Ray that the "K-11" stamped on his hand is the unit where they send people who would be in danger if they were mixed in with the main jail population. "I like to think it's a sanctuary for broken toys," she says, "a home away from home."

Thus begins a nightmarish journey of survival for Ray Saxx, who must learn to navigate a new kind of power structure in a world whose "kingpin" is a transsexual viper named Mousey (Kate del Castillo). She maintains a tenuous share hold over K-11 with the brutalizing and corrupt jailer Lieutenant Johnson (D.B. Sweeney).

D.B. Sweeney tweets about working on 'K-11'

Kristen Stewart confirmed as not part of 'K-11', brother Cameron Stewart joins the cast (Variety)

Kristen Stewart won't appear in "K-11," her mom's directorial debut, but big brother Cameron Stewart will, Variety's Josh Dickey exclusively reports. It'll be the first film credit for K-Stew's older sibling (no picture available, sorry guys!) but not for his co-stars Goran Visnjic, D.B. Sweeney and Portia Doubleday.

The film stars Visnjic  as a successful young record producer who wakes up after a three-day binge in a special unit of L.A. County’s Men’s Central Jail that's dedicated to vulnerable prisoners, a place ruled by a viper transsexual. (Cameron Stewart’s role wasn't disclosed). Though there was mass speculation that his kid sister of “Twilight” fame would also play a transgendered character,  she is not involved in the project, alas. S

Shooting started July 18 at locations in Woodland Hills and Hollywood, and has moved on to the now-closed Sybil Brand correctional facility for women in Los Angeles County.
