Kate del Castillo mentions K-11 (FoxNews, Latino)

Kate del Castillo’s legs became the envy of every woman and the desire of every man after they were featured in the opening credits and the posters for the telenovela “La Reina del Sur.”

You can credit her physique to her love of exercising.

“I run, do kickboxing or bootcamps, I eat well and drink a lot of water,” Castillo told Fox News Latino.

The edgy soap opera, which was a ratings hit last year on Telemundo, has been re-airing this year on its sister station Mun2, but will have its grand finale this week, much to the dismay of its loyal audience.

The telenovela tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo), an innocent woman who gets wrapped up in the world of drug trafficking after falling in love with the wrong guy.

“I feel kind of sad, it’s been a long journey and an amazing one,” said Castillo adding that she has “learned a lot” from her character who is “such a strong woman living in a business ruled by men.”

Del Castillo said the role was extraordinary because she got to be involved in a lot of action scenes and she got to travel to Colombia, Spain and Mexico.

The actress, who lives in Hollywood, keeps busy with projects in both Mexico and the U.S.
She recently played a journalist in the movie “Colosio: el asesinato” which premiered in Mexico on June 6.
The film is based on the 1994 assassination of Mexican presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio.

Del Castillo will also soon be seen in the Drama "K-11," a movie where she plays a transsexual diva named Mousey who rules a section of the Los Angeles County Jail reserved for homosexuals.

"I was afraid, but I don’t take any jobs if they don’t scare me,” said Castillo.

"It’s a world we know about, but we don’t know enough.”

The actress had to do a lot of research to understand the transformation of a man becoming a woman, and enlisted the same coach who trained Felicity Huffman on her transsexual character in “Transamerica.”

“For me it opened my mind in so many ways,” Del Castillo said.

Next year we will also see her flexing those biceps once again in the action movie “No Good Deeds” alongside Idris Alba. The thriller is centered on a one-time district attorney who is kidnapped along with her two children.

Although it seems like del Castillo gets roles effortlessly, she says she hits the pavement like any other actress in Hollywood and still has to “audition a lot.“
